Jay’s Most Internet Advertising News Links for 23 March 2006
- Web Analytics Firms Defend Cookies – We rely on third-party cookies, and I’ve seen the emails where people feel third-party cookies violate their privacy, but any controversy seems unfounded.
- Webmasterworld Thread – Top Google AdSense publisher (subscription req’d) – Hard not to read a thread that begins, “I am without a doubt the top individual adsense publisher in terms of pageviews. Me talking about how I did it won't help you, but here is what i found you need to be successful in adsense.”
- Gratis Internet in the news for Datran relationship – I wrote about this topic after the announcement that Datran agreed to pay $1.1 million as a settlement. It’s a troubling story because neither company did what was alleged, but for them it’s simply cheaper to settle than to fight. Just ask Justin Champion from Synergy6.
- It’s nice to be Bill Gross – According to the LA Times “Shareholders of Idealab, the Pasadena-based technology incubator that spawned some of the Internet's biggest hits and misses, overwhelmingly agreed Tuesday to pay off a $50-million personal bank loan owed by founder Bill Gross…Idealab will buy the loan from Bank of America for $20 million. It will collect from Gross the full $50 million plus interest and a $1-million annual fee over four years, according to a proxy statement obtained by The Times.” Valleywag broke the initial story.
- Apollo Announces Second Quarter Earnings – The company has taken a beating, but is in an enviable position.
- David Rodnitzsky's Search Enging Marketing Quiz
